Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about my swim programs.
What ages do you teach?
I teach children of all ages. My youngest swimmers start as infants with self-rescue skills, and I also work with older children on swim technique and stroke development. Reach out and I will help you figure out the best program for your child.
How long is the program?
Self-rescue and swim skills programs typically run 6 to 8 weeks. Lessons are 10 minutes per day, 4 days per week (Monday through Thursday). Stroke technique programs are flexible and tailored to your child's goals.
Why are lessons only 10 minutes?
Young children have limited attention spans and tire quickly in water. Short, consistent daily lessons are more effective than longer, less frequent sessions. This is the proven methodology used by self-rescue programs worldwide.
Do I need a pool?
Yes, you need access to a private pool. I come to your home pool for all lessons. The pool should be heated to at least 85 degrees for younger children.
What should my child wear?
Regular swim diaper and swimsuit for most lessons. Part of the self-rescue program includes clothed swimming to simulate real-life scenarios, so you will need a set of everyday clothes for those sessions.
Will my child cry?
Some children may cry during initial lessons, especially younger ones. This is normal and expected. My background in Human Behavior and Cognition helps me work with each child's temperament. Most children adjust within the first week.
Is this safe?
Yes. I am a trained professional with 13+ years of experience, lifeguard certification, and specialized training in water safety. Safety is the foundation of everything I do.
How much does it cost?
Please contact me directly for current pricing and session availability. Investment varies based on program type and your child's needs.
Do you offer lessons in Spanish?
Yes! I am fully bilingual in English and Spanish. All instruction and communication can be conducted in your preferred language.
What areas do you serve?
I serve Carlsbad, Oceanside, Vista, Encinitas, and surrounding North County San Diego communities.
Can children with special needs participate?
Absolutely. I hold an Autism Aquatics certification and have experience working with neurodiverse children. I adapt my approach to meet each child's unique needs.
Do you teach older kids who already know how to swim?
Yes! My Stroke Technique program is for children who are already comfortable in the water and want to develop proper form. I work on freestyle, backstroke, breathing, and endurance.
